At peace with my peace

Its evening, the day is almost done. It seems that many things are left undone too. Hard to say exactly just what that is, but a feeling that I am carrying around now. No great act of volunteering today, just simply slow, but with intent, today has made a difference somewhere. I’m at peace with my peace I once told my son. Though I sometimes get antsy about things, things that I can or cannot say or do, or control. But this does not last long I am happy to say. Nothing has made me believe that tomorrow won’t be better or that today was a waste of time. Still, I long for further meaning today, more content, just a little more depth in the moment. Time to write a song or sing a song, or time to stop and think and know that right now, this very moment, there is great peace that is enveloping the whole earth. Peace and contentment with a power behind and in front of it that heals the broken heart, the lonely, and the down trodden. Rescues us from being foolish and selfish. Helps us be more of ourselves. Let us rise like the risen Christ.

How your troubles make me better

Doggie Days
My first day at the dog rescue walking a dog.Already I heard over again how much it was appreciated my being there to walk the dogs. It seems that many of you who have been here felt that it was too difficult to help out because dogs are kept in kennels and runs. Never mind that there are almost a hundred acres that you could be sharing with a dog. Never mind that a dog may not be walked because you feel “too much”, just “too sensitive”, oh my. I thought it was about the dogs and not about “you”. Who are you kidding? I think a dog walk is just what you need to take your mind off of yourself. Look at the hills, look at the dogs running, smell the fresh air, see their gladness and feel their gratitude. It will take you away from yourself, because obviously you need to for a while and sense that the world around you is in fact a good place to be and worth sharing with a needy dog. We sometimes forget just how helpful it is for us to get beyond the all too familiar, not to mention how often the non familiar is much better than what we are accustomed to. There are mouths to feed and hugs to give. Isn’t that the basics of motherhood and fatherhood? These dog children haven’t been given a fair shake in society and therefore they are there, praying. Yes praying. God is teaching them even more patience. We should be so fortunate to have even half the patience that they have demonstrated. What do dogs pray for? “Give us this day our daily bread”. Food yes, but there is more behind the food. M.B.E. writes, “feed the famished affections”. They need to share their affections with the world. That has always been one of their top missions on earth. Praying for a treat? Yes, again the reward behind the good behavior. But notice I say behind the good behavior. We all know that doing good feels good; we do it because it’s the right thing to do. That’s what good parents teach. I won’t get into the poor fathering and mothering here. That is not my mission. Here I would just like to say that getting past your over emotional response to many of the worlds cruelties will make You a better person. It will empower You to be of assistance to others. Not just to dogs, but to your families and friends. Taking this most needed step you will strengthen your ability to get past false and deceitful appearances and delve into the realm of a real life experience. Yes where injustice flagrantly waves its banner, you will wave back with a helping hand. Where inequity exists in this realm you will be a part of making an adjustment to the positive balance of life. Come on, we are stronger than they, though we are out numbered.
